VKVM

Privacy Policy

Effective October 23, 2026

VKVM lets you control your own Macs from one keyboard and mouse, share your camera and microphone between them, and view their screens remotely. This policy explains what information VKVM handles, why, and what control you have over it. In short: we keep only what is needed to connect your devices to each other, we never sell your data, and the contents of your sessions are not stored on our servers.

Information we keep

WhatWhy
Account: your Google account identifier and email address, via Google sign-in (Firebase Authentication)To know which devices belong to you
Devices: each Mac's name, public key, app version, display layout, and when it was registeredTo list your Macs, verify each one, and arrange them for edge-crossing
Connection data: IP addresses, connection times, and the amount of data relayedTo route connections, keep the service secure, and prevent abuse. Kept for no more than 30 days.

Information we don't keep

Keyboard and mouse input, clipboard contents, files you drag between Macs, screen images, camera video, microphone audio, call audio, and transcripts travel only between your own devices. They are encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3 / QUIC). When two of your Macs can't connect directly, the data passes through our relay server, which forwards it in real time and does not record or store it. We do not log the contents of sessions.

Live captions are produced on your Mac with Apple's on-device speech recognition. Transcripts are saved only on your Mac, and you can delete them at any time.

Permissions on your Mac

macOS asks you to approve each capability VKVM uses. VKVM uses each one only for the purpose listed:

  • Accessibility and Input Monitoring: to capture the keyboard and mouse you're using and to send input to the Mac you're controlling.
  • Screen Recording: to show this Mac's screen to your other Macs during a remote session you start.
  • Camera and Microphone: to share them with your other Macs while an app there is using the VKVM camera or microphone.
  • System Audio Recording: to send call audio back to the Mac you're sitting at.
  • Local Network: to connect directly to your other Macs on the same network.

How we share information

We don't sell or rent your information, show ads, or use it for advertising. We use Google Cloud and Firebase to provide sign-in, store account and device records, run the relay, and host this website. They process data for us under their own security and privacy terms. We disclose information only if the law requires it.

This website

vkvm.io sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. Our host, Firebase Hosting, processes standard request data such as your IP address to serve the pages.

Keeping and deleting your information

You can remove any Mac from your account in the app. Its record is deleted, and it can no longer connect to your other devices. To delete your account and all of its device records, email us. We complete deletion within 30 days.

Security

Each Mac proves its identity with a key held in its Secure Enclave. Every connection is encrypted and authenticated, and only Macs registered to the same account can reach each other. Your Macs never open a public listening port.

Children

VKVM is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and post the new version on this page.
